Delusions are categorised into four groups
Bizzare ( implausible, not understandable to outside listeners e.g their organs have been completely replaced with no scarring whatsoever )
Non-bizarre ( weird, but not impossible e.g being constantly watched by the government )
Mood-congruent ( delusions that manifests consistently with depressive or manic states e.g believing they’re a powerful deity or that a television personality disapproves of them specifically )
Mood-neutral ( not based on mood or emotional state e.g they’re growing an extra limb from another part of their body )
These can also change, and there’s other specific delusions people can suffer from, and each have their own degrees of severeness and appearance rates. These however are some of the more common delusions.
Religious delusions are a type that are based around the belief of being
a God or related to one, or that you have been chosen by a deity to fulfill their orders,
with some notable ones being violent, towards others or self.
Persecutory delusions are based on the belief that the person
is being followed, harassed or targeted in some way.
There’s two categories for this delusion; harm is occurring or going to occur, or people have the intent to harm them.
Somatic delusions make a person believe that they are diseased, abnormal or changed,
this can form in the beliefs that the person is infested with insects and parasites, or that their
body is decaying from outside forces
erotomanic delusions are the belief that everyone surrounding this person is
deeply enamoured and in love with them. This can be focused around one
person or a large group, possibly the whole population.
